Hard Resin Plastics (thermo-set polymers)
– Hard resin plastics like CR-39 and high index materials for
ophthalmic lenses are cross linking polymers that are cast. These
materials require surface activation for flow and adhesion purposes.
With UV curable coatings, this is achieved by physically abrading
the material with LTI’s CR Scrub PLUS.
For thermal curable coatings, the material is typically etched in
a caustic (alkaline) solution. Alternatively, plasma or other surface
treatments can be utilized.
